So, I’ve made it to Belgium and finally and settled into my home for the first couple days. There are 13 of us and we are staying in what used to be a monastery. It’s old but has modern renovations that make it much more comfortable.
The flight felt longer than it should have. The worst part is that we left at 7 p.m. EST and so it was still a little bit light out. Then it was dark for only about three hours on the flight before the sun was rising in Europe. So needless to say I looked like a zombie when I got off the plane. Luckily all my luggage made it. It’s funny that in the airport that they were playing “Call Me Maybe” - can’t escape this terrible American pop even in Europe. haha
We then came straight to the house with five other trainees and picked out our rooms. I tried to stay awake but I needed a nap if I was going to make it through the day at all. After my nap I got to know all the other consultants who are here with me as they arrived. Most are from the US except one who is from Slovenia. We just relaxed today and tried to stay awake so that we could go to sleep tonight and beat the jet lag.
Tomorrow we are planning on making a trip out to Brussels, which is about 45 minutes from Zepperen where we are staying. It should be a fun day and I plan on trying the Belgian waffles and frites.
We have also decided to take a trip to Amsterdam next weekend so that should be insane. We’ll catch the train after work Friday and stay in a hostel there.
Pictures tomorrow!
Ciao,
xoxo Brit
